Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS), a joint venture between Philips and Lite-On IT (the largest Taiwan-based OEM/ODM maker of half-height optical disc drives), on November 14 unveiled a Blu-ray Disc (BD)-ROM drive for sale under Lite-On IT's brand Liteon, with shipments to begin at the end of November 2007, according to PLDS. The BD-ROM drive can read BD-R (recordable, write once) discs at a 4x speed and BD-RE (rewritable) at 2x or faster, PLDS pointed out. More here at Digitimes.
