Mesa (AZ) – Shop owner Robert Guertin has found an even better use for the YouTube video sharing site and has posted up video of a thief stealing one of his expensive watches. From the corner of his store, hidden cameras recorded a man taking almost $2000 worth of watches. Guertin unsuccessfully tried to chase the thief down, but he now hopes an online video, along with a $1000 bounty, will help catch the brazen thief.
Guertin's surveillance video CBS 5 Phoenix has a great video interview of Guertin who owns the Big Sticks Fine Cigars shop in Mesa Arizona. Guertin also sells expensive watches in his store and says a man simply lifted the watches from their cases on two occasions. The first watch was worth $725 while the second was $1200. After the second watch was taken, Guertin chased the thief into the streets, but he could only get a license plate. Frustrated, he then put the surveillance video on YouTube and is offering a $1000 reward to whoever helps catch the guy. Guertin tells CBS 5 that he probably won’t get the watches back, but at least he’ll keep the thief off the streets thanks to his, “15 minutes of shame”.
