Now that Intel is ramping up production of its new Itaniums we are poised to take over the world by making AMD bow before their master.

Seriously.
If the Itanium is so much better than the C2D, will future hardware/software be more like the Itanium? It's a huge task to rewrite everything, but you need to start someplace.
I will personally like to see ALL cpus in the world share the same basic architecture. Super high-end servers will be a superset or workstations and servers while the workstations will have some specialized features added. The workstations will be a superset of the desktop/notebook/UMPC with some features added. The Desktop will be a superset of PPCs/Smart phones, etc. The translation will be a whole lot easier, like .NET to Java - Much more simple than x86 to EPIC/VLIW. Anyway, I think this will happen in a few years about when specialized cores a made. my 2cents

But why the AMD hatred white devil?
They've done close to what Intel can do with 1/5th the total market share.
Everyone's so lovey dovey about Intel, but anyone with half a brain knows that their holding back money for R&D and just churning out a profit
Sure, this is what business is all about, but with so much more money, they should be about 5 years ahead of AMD.

I really like Intel and I like AMD as well, but I
can't define Intel as masters. I had afew systems
over the years, including one based on an Itanium
but I can't say that Intel are masters nor AMD.

AMD offers the small man the opportunity to achieve
acceptable performance at a relatively small price.
Intel offers the power to the average person.

We need AMD as we need Intel,to keep the evolution
going.

There is no use turning things into a war.

Oh come on. You can do better than that.
