The recent price reductions for the Xbox 360 as well as the Playstation 3 are not reason enough for Nintendo to cut the price for its console. Company president Satoru Iwata told the Japanese Jiji Press that he has no intentions of lowering the retail price of the Wii. Iwata does not expect the lower prices of the PS3 and the Xbox 360 to affect sales of the Nintendo device in the U.S. and Europe.

Satoru also noted that the Wii will soon get another feature that will enable users to view TV program listings on Wii consoles that are connected to the Internet.

Why reduce the price of a good you can not produce fast enough to satisfy an overwhelming demand ? XBOX360 and PS3 had to cut their price to compete WITH the Wii. With no strong competition, the Wii does not need any cut price.

Microsoft and Sony need to capitalize on this, and either lower prices, or offer bundles and discount on games to account for the price gap. They need to really "test" the appeal of a last gen system, strutting around with all the talk of innovation.

I agree they should not lower the price, but don't be fooled by the artificial demand Nintendo is creating. They have the manufacturing capacity to keep up. They are choosing not to. Genius really.

I personally don't understand the appeal of the Wii. I have had a Wii since December and I have not been overly impressed with it. The graphics on the system are about on par with my 1998 Dreamcast. Additionally, most of the games for the Wii are just plain bad.
