Inspired by Asustek Computer's Eee PC cutting into the consumer market, Mitac International Computer announced recently that it is cooperating with MIND to also enter the low-cost PC market, according to Mitac. Some notebook makers expect that Mitac's experience in niche markets along with the fact that the company will target the market for children age 3-12, could lead to an expanded market scale for both Mitac and Asustek, and this may cause OLPC, who currently only plans to target emerging markets but is not getting ideal results, to rethink its strategy.
