that won't work on my aging pc :'(

I downloaded this at work but it plays horribly with a X1300 graphics card. Can't wait to get home to try it on my main machine. Suggestion: Don't play this with the minimum requirements.

on my laptop in low settings at 1680x1050. got a c2d 2ghz and x1600 mobile and seems to be happy with that for the most part, i can see the bad textures but hte gameplay is there and the models and geometry of the maps so I can only imagine how it will work on my main desktop with cd2 6300 and 8800gts. Need to get a better proc cause I know in past games unreal was alot more proc happy than gpu.

I downloaded it at lunch, and got to play a single really short game. So far, I think it's pretty good, better than 2k4 and 2k3, but not sure if it's as good as the original UT.

I was surprised that it was only 741megs for the demo. Lots of games now are close to 2 gigs.

Also, you can get the demo on Filefront.com, there are no 45 minute waiting lines there, and the speeds are faster.

Running at 1920 x 1200 everything maxed out. This game is fun.

It's pretty decent. I wouldn't say it's better than ut2004, but the graphics are better.

He said no dodge jump function...bunny hopping is more prevalent in this game, which is great. I agree with him thought that the lack of dodge and jump at same time sux.

Sry if this bursts your bubble, but if you dont like player movement skill such as bunnyhopping and dodging then UT is not for you.

First off, to Johannes, you don't need to subscribe to fileplanet to get this beta. You can sign up for a free membership.
The beta demo is very fun and fast paced. I like the new addition of the hoverboard in the CTF with ships map.
The Beta demo will not work with XP64 i had to install Vista64 to get it to run. But it was worth it.
If you have an old system (pre-NVidia6800/ATI9800) it will not run well at all. I have a 8800GTS and at 1600x1200 with all options maxed and I get frame-rate drops when there is more then 10 people on the screen at a time or when there is really intense action and explosions.

Made a rig with minimum requirements of 2.0GHz Athlon, nVidia 6200, 768MB RAM - and the game will not even open.
Runs fine on my high-end rig of course.

Havent tried it yet but i dont understand how you can put out a 'beta demo'.
The game is supposed to be out in november and they cant even make the demo gold?
Besides that, i want just the UT99 with better graphics. Having vehicles makes brakes the fast gameflow totally and is against everyhing these gameas are about- fast paced action.

Apparently a previous poster missed the part about it being downloadable from the free side of FilePlanet and about two billion different mirrors for the file eventually popping up... there was no paying for anything involved. This coming from somebody who has never paid a dime to FilePlanet, but downloaded the demo just fine from there.

To Johannes: I don't know what you are talking about. I downloaded it for free on fileplanet, you just have to wait 30-45 minutes in line to get it.

As for the game, it is very beautiful and fun. I've got it running at 1680x1050 with max settings on my ATI x1950xtx, C2D E6700 @ 3.2GHz and 4GB of RAM on XP. For the most part it runs fairly smooth with a few hitches here and there, mainly at first load of a level. The only downside is that the game will occassionally crash on me, going back to the Windows Desktop. Sometimes it's immediately after loading level, othertimes I could be 15 minutes into a game. Hopefully that's just due to it being a beta demo and not for things to expect with my machine when the full version is released.

Yeah! Back to the basics is what I was hoping for. The movement is great on my amd 1.8mhz and 6800 gts. Glad I dont have to upgrade yet.
