London (England) - Three online giants have joined forces to protect users against fraudulent e-mail scams.

Yahoo has agreed to implement special e-mail blocking technology that will immediately delete any "phishing" e-mails sent to Yahoo Mail users before they ever hit the inbox.

Phishing messages send users to a bogus link to a website login page that looks official, for example a fake clone of Ebay.  After the user enters login credentials, they are sent to the phisher.  Ebay users are attractive targets because many of them do not know how to spot a phishing e-mail from an official e-mail.

The technology will be rolled out to all Yahoo Mail users over the next several weeks.
