If I had to count how many times did good old joystick slip out of my hand and flew (or actually fell) off my table... Did anyone care back then? No. Why should they (or I)? The most damage possibly involved would be breaking the thing or losing a life in game. And IMHO 1990's joysticks were heavier than todays Wii controllers.

I welcome the way Nintendo address concerns of consumers request =) instead of them shipping us the thing, i don't mind if they leave it at the retailer, and have us pick it up =)

We care now as the controller could possibly break out TV nooblet... I personally have never had the controller fly out of my hands yet. But i have seen it slip out of others. If it wasn't fopr that strap my Plasma would have been history...

Perhaps you've not played a Wii game? There's quite a difference in game play using Wii controllers compared to the standard joysticks. Playing a game like tennis on the Wii, it would be quite easy to work up a sweat and have the controller fly out of your hand, smashing into your $1500 TV. Even if the only damage was "breaking the thing", it's nice to see Nintendo doing something about it. I, for one, applaud Nintendo's customer service.

I'm not sure what your post is about, Petr? Are you complaining that Nintendo is trying to improve their products or just whining about the article?

Actually this statement is not a "humble opinion" is it? Either the joysticks are heavier or they are not.

But I have seen a few folks slam into or fall over furniture while playing Wii. But then, drinks were involved too....

Sure after I already bought covers from a third party after market... I will get them anyway and sell them on ebay...

hey petr have you ever tried to throw a 90-100 mph fastball...well try to hold on to it instead of releasing the ball, not exactly easy when you've been playing wii sports for an hour and your hands start to get wet and your hands start to get tired. ive never actually let the controller fly out of my hand but its come close a few times

Hands do get sweaty and the wiimote does get slippery. It's a fact and yes, HDTV's are getting damaged because of it. I applaud Nintendo for the wii condomn. Play safe folks.

Nintendo is just covering all their bases, nothing wrong with that at all... :)

Let's say you'd be fixing shutters or such thing. It would cause your hand to sweat for sure. Would you sue manufacturer of hammer because your own clumsy hand broke a window with it? Maybe is U.S. you would, and that would make you absolute idiot (successful or not).
Now which way does it differ from breaking your TV set with Wii controller which flew out of the same clumsy hand? I believe it is the same. Just some people don't get it, and spit at those who point out how absurd it is when manufacturer has to give something out for free just to avoid being sued. In good old days you would grab it for a single buck at near store, and you would be happy with it. Not even in your wildest dream would you get an idea of blaming Nintendo.
