Taipei (Taiwan) – Sparkle has announced two new high-end graphics cards.

The firm's new Calibre P889 series replace the previous P880 series and use Nvidia's Geforce 8800 reference design. The P889+ is based on the 8800 GTX and comes with a core clock of 630 MHz and a memory clock of 1960 MHz, compared to the standard 575 MHz core and 1800 MHz memory. The shader clock is also up from 1350 MHz to 1512 MHz.

The P889 Ultra, based on the 8800 Ultra, has a core clock of 650 MHz, a memory clock of 2250 MHz and a shader clock of 1674 MHz, compared to the 612 MHz/2160 MHz/1500 MHz of the reference platform. Sparkle claims that the P889 Ultra is good for a 3Dmark06 score of 12209 points. The P889+ is estimated at a score of 11294.

Pricing and availability have not been announced.

Just an overclocked card, not even the highest out of the bunch. Msi has an 660mhz ultra and bfg has a 650mhz gtx.

They should try to make the chips more efficient instead. We have ended up at a point where CPU's use hardly 70 Watts and the GPU needs double that. Meaning a GPU upgrade has to be followed by a new power supply. That's the ridiculous part. Hopefully they will realize that processing power isn't all about clock speeds and create multithread graphic loads to use multiple cores in GPU's too.

thats not that much of an increase the only way i see it making those benchmarks is with gddr4. Iv seen cards with higher ultra's core clocks and equal mem clocks this is nothing new.

NVidia 8800 Ludicrus Edition?? Core @ 1GHz, memory at 3GHz and shades at who knows what speed. C'mon ppl, the G80 has reached its maximum span. Beyond those speeds, the performance gain versus power cosumption and heat generation isn't really worth it. Is it? I'm not even going to mention the price difference between the normal GTX and the ultra OC version....
