Chicago (IL) – Posdata showcased what the company claims to be the first mobile gaming platform with WiMax capability.

Gaming will be positioned as one of the initial killer applications for WiMax, when the technology will be introduced in Chicago and Baltimore later this year and throughout 2008 and 2009 in other parts of the country. So it was not surprising that most WiMax demonstrations at WiMax World USA 2007 focused on online gaming.

However, what was surprising is that there is already one company that has managed to squeeze WiMax connectivity into a handheld gaming device. Posdata's G100, scheduled for a late 2007 release, is a sliding-style game pad with a 4" touchscreen LCD as well as a common set of game controls. Connectivity options include mobile WiMax, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Initially, the device is expected to support 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz WiMax bands.

There was no word on what games will be available for the device or which types of games it will support. Pricing has not been announced.
