Chicago (IL) – Intel today demonstrated a functional notebook based on the Montevina platform, which will include the firm’s first integrated Wimax/Wi-Fi chipset codenamed Echo Peak.

Following the presentation of first Montevina notebooks at its recent Developer Forum, Intel today showed off the WiMax functionality of the platform at the Wimax World USA 2007 conference in Chicago. The company did not provide many details about the chipset, but we were able to see that Echo Peak in fact is up and running and the Wimax feature appears to be on track for a 2008 delivery.

Intel also showed a version of Sony’s Vaio UX280P UMPC with an integrated Wimax chip.
