Lulu is right on this one. The name is so confusing as it is, not only that, but the business each site does it similar as well. Lulu suing Hulu: perfectly legit.

Why is it only the big time executive types get confused, and the rest of us have absolutely NO problems what-so-ever with this stuff?

Settlement should be expected in links towards each other's pages, and a fast closing of the case, and more real work and less legal work for people to do. This settlement would make them happy as they do not steal customers from each other but would be somehow forced to a cooperation not decided in advance, and would make lawyers unhappy for the fast closing and future relevance. But that ain't gonna happen because of the money extracting juridical system, and because the conflicting parties do not want cooperation (if they wanted it, they could have settled out of court).

Marketing costs are a big factor for a company, when you are marketing yourself and you get a spillover affect by people accidently finding someone else similar to you through your own marketing, you end up a little disgruntled.

They may not be directly similar, but they would probably be upset that they are in essence advertising the other company by accident through people searching the web and seeing one site named Hulu and one lulu and clicking both to figure which they want. Hulu have potential customers for free.

But then again, any company with a name between 2-4 letters really have to think about how differnt every other company with 2-4 letters in their name can be, hell i cant have a password on any site with only four letters, and my bank pin is 7.

From the description of each site, they are not the same. If a site sells car parts but calls it Zulu, they would be sued too?

They say any publicity is good publicity. I have never heard of either until the lawsuit. If plublicity was what they are after, they have it now. :)
