Following an announcement by Acer that it will acquire US-based PC vendor Gateway, Acer chairman JT Wang said that the company will also acquire Packard Bell to strengthen its market position in Europe. After reaching an acquisition agreement with Acer, Gateway announced that it intends to exercise its right of first refusal to acquire from John Hui, all of the shares of PB Holding Company, the parent company of Packard Bell, Acer noted.
