Wonder if they will produce a similar density product for the pro duo cards... like the one in my psp...8gb for my phone is actually more then i have in my psp atm =p

Thats going to drastically change the mobile device market, all of a sudden the $700 price tag of a 8GB iPhone is very overpriced compared to a $200 Phone with a $200 SD Card in it. Im sure the people at WIndows Mobile are very happy.

I think the products' speed will be low because generally high capacity low priced cards use multi-level cells.
Single-level cells: higher speed, higher number of write cycles, higher price.
Multi-level cells: lower speed, lower number of write cycles, lower price.

Aren't the current solid state drives maxed at 32GB? They use a 2.5" form factor, you could fit like 10 of these 32GB SD cards in that space, maybe more. Cost would be an issue of course, but you could dramatically increase the capacity of the solid state drives with this technology! As always, when the price comes down on the chips I'm sure we will see such a product.

All they need is better phone software to make listening to music easier, because my V3i is not that friendly and quite slow loading the music player.

Too bad the iPhone doesn't have an SD slot.

This capacity is awesome. Are SD cards fast enough that it could conceivably replace a laptop's hard drive?

As solid state drives and memory cards hold more, prices come down for the not so new ones. This would be a boon for those not on the leading edge of technology. Eventually prices on these devices usually come down as capacity goes up.

I was wondering why my new Q was built to take a 32 GB SD cards until I saw this.

I seen it on T3 New in May. I think Sandisk was making it.

SSD is not SDHC, the SSD needs to support OS's that use it for a swap-file and booting, SDHC doesn't support either of these, thus you can't compare them.

To successfully boot on any system, your memory needs to be PATA or SATA compliant, SDHC is not, and doesn't want to be, the main or OS Secondary storage.

SDHC in 32GB size is wonderful news as video/audio and large reference/program storage in portable devices such as the ASUS EEE PC, which includes a small amount of SSD for the OS and main programs/files, while including a SD slot for extended storage.

Beautiful, I like it, just keep in mind that SSD is not at all like your regular USB stick/SD card, it has backup cells for the ones that wear out, and a wear-leveling controller to keep it functioning and keeping your data safe.

Well clearly you know more then me about this kind of thing, but why can i boot off my psp with a pro duo stick or off my usb stick? these arent pata/sata? i thought it'd be file system based more then anything.. can you explain a little more?
