I think you messed up on the resolution information. I believe it is 1080p, not 1080i.

Where's the 1080p? and 1000 lumens? I think my 2-year old projector has 2000...but I guess the contrast ratio goes to show you how well it regulates the light....amazing...

That seems a bit low for a 200W lamp...

1080p and 1080i denote scan rates... both denote a 1920x1080 resolution. for non-CRT displays at typical 24fps / 30fps, both are "exactly" the same (minus an deinterlacing performance characteristics depending on where the deinterlacing process is performed - 1080/60i picture is deinterlaced and shown on the projector's physical panel at 1080/30p or 1080/24p if pulldown flag is present for 24p / film material - 1080/30p is not processed and shown on the projector's physical panel at 1080/30p).

manufacturer lumen ratings are traditionally very inaccurate. perhaps 1000 advertised lumen output is simply Sony being more honest about the figures. I too have seen projectors rated at higher lumen output, but unless they have significantly higher power bulbs or dual bulbs, they generally compromise in the extreme lumen output is at the expense of grayscale performance and ability to show black levels approaching reference 7IRE black levels. i have not seen a non-CRT projector that is capable of showing 0 IRE "below black" levels and still show a somewhat full gray scale / full white. sounds like a good projector and very appropriate for video based home theater rooms. (versus corporate board room / graphics applications, especially given lack of DVI port)
