I first notice my skype was not working right at 5:50am pacific times. I thought the internet was down, but it's not.

..EVERYONE PANIC!!! jk That would have to be the result of several simultaneous unfortunate incidents to bring the whole internet down...God forbid

I can see Skype replacing Ma Bell, where you have to email customer service like you do with ebay. Ebay should stick to the auction business.

I am aware that there have been few outages over the history of Skype nut this one os beginning to drag on and ooonnnnn! The lack of information from Skype and the fact that their latest update is now 24 hours old is disturbing. It seems the brains in Estonia have little notion what is really going on. One wonders how far this will knock back the whole VOIP industry not to mention what it could to to the Ebay stock price. Come back Windows Messenger - all is forgiven and almost forgotten.

MS probably already has that backdoor in to do such a thing...

Skype has been working for me since last night...I used it for about 2 hours from 11:00-1:00am. Interesting that it's still down in many place.

It's been over 24 hours and skype is still down.

We use Skype at work and im told that this is the first time its been down and they've used it for years. When the outage ocured we thought it was on our side but when we started getting calls from other we saw this was not so and the problem might be worldwide.It was a few hours of of waiting to hear word and when we did we were kind of put at ease. We thought some bastards with too much time on thier hands deciding that Skype quite frankly should cease to exist but instead an algorithm vomited on itself. We read the blog entries and were impressed with how they tried to explain what was going on with the service and how they were going about fixing it, dont get me wrong we were pissed(and still are) but at least they gave a damn to tell the public what exactly was going on.Our company has missed calls as a result of this outage but temporary alternatives have been found.All in all I dont think its fair to harp on skype for this excessivly or get insanly worked up about this, it doesnt happen often and its not like theyre just telling you that the service is down for some pre-rehearsed asinine reason and tell you to piss off.

me thinks a NIC card inside some secretary's PC that controls SKYPE failed, like the one blamed for the airport network outage in the US

Do you know how difficult and long is the algorithm of Skype? I read some comments that without knowing anything about P2P, they doubt what Skype say.

I just lecture about introduction to P2P. It is rather easy to understand, difficult to write and long to repair.
