Foster City (CA) - Customers who purchased specific titles from the Playstation 3's online Playstation Store will receive a full refund because of defects in the game emulation.

The "digital recall" affects Spyro 2 and MediEvil, both of which are classic PSOne games that were emulated for the PS3 and PSP hardware.  Customers who purchased the games complained about the fact that these titles did not work properly with memory cards, original Playstation peripherals, and in the case of MediEvil, the multiplayer version was scrapped.

Sony sent out e-mails to everyone who purchased one or both of the two titles, saying that a refund would be issued to the user's digital PS3 wallet within the next seven days.  In addition to explaining the lack of some original PSOne features, the e-mail claims "there appear to be more significant technical issues" with Spyro 2 and MediEvil.

Sony removed Spyro 2 from the PS Store, along with Crash Bandicoot 2.  The problems with Crash are not as significant, according to Sony, and an updated version is expected to be available in the near future.  There has been no word on whether or not Spyro 2 will come back to the online store.

MediEvil remains available for new customers to purchase.  Buried at the bottom of the game's description is the disclaimer, "This version does not support PlayStation peripherals (Controller, Memory Card, Multitap, etc.), therefore functionality such as multiplayer, versus, and co-op modes are not available."

How about a refund for a crappy console?

I have had 3 broken xbox 360s. They are got repaired but it's spent more time in the shop than in my house. If you think Sony release a crappy console then MS sold us garbage cans for $400.

(They are got repaired)? Try moving your system to a place that gets better air circulation, Ive had an original xbox 360 from day one and I haven't had to replace mine. Obviously if you have gone through 3 systems you HAVE to be doing something wrong.

I wouldn't say he is doing something wrong if he's been through 3 xbox 360 systems. My best friend is on his fourth and my roomy on his 3rd sounds like you just got lucky if your still on your first and just wait you'll see the lights soon.
