Ebay has gone down hill for the past few years. I used to sell stuff all the time, but now it's not even worth it with all the fees and the chances for fraud in the auctions. I think Ebay needs some major tweaking to bring it back to what it used to be. :(

Ebay is only a last resort for me to sell anything. It has become very expensive to use. Though I'm sure the stockholders like that. Many american companies seems to have become marketing machines with no substance in the product.

I actually agree with what Chaz said. Recently I've seen a lot of "buy it nows" which are at or above retail. These kind of destroy the point of eBay when you might as well just buy from a retailer. Some items that are worth a lot of money just don't sell well on there anymore. I used to sell all kinds of things. They gotta do something about it.

I'll echo what has already been said. eBay has been in decline for several years now, at least from this seller's perspective.

Exhorbitant fees are just part of the story. I was there at the beginning and I for one find the current auction process ridiculously complex.

At every turn, eBay has made life more difficult and expensive for sellers.

A few years back they invited me to be in their PowerSeller Program. I didn't even respond, I had had enough.

So less and less people are using eBay, how they respond? they jack up the prices so they will end up in the same profits.

The prices eBay charge is ridiculous, not only that, they force sellers into fully accepting Paypal now. I got several listings cancelled just because I will not take credit card paypal payments. (Been scammed before so byebye credit cards)

I hope eBay goes down and down....

No doubt Ebay is in quite a corner. With listings and final value fees up Its hard to Sell.That along with scores of sellers listing large (read: redundant) inventories of products, its hard to find a deal!

I do enjoy receiving Ebay's "1 cent listing" or similar attempts to inspire more listings. But every other day of the week they are squeezing the last cent out of you. This is just my opinion, I've been an active seller (300 ) over the past 3 years , and more now than ever, it feels like I'm being punished for trying to sell there.

I've never been much of a seller on eBay, but I've noticed the upward travel of prices, mostly I assume, due to listing fees. In fact a lot of times I can find better prices on other 'retail' sites rather than eBay listings. eBay is no longer my first choice for buying.

Recall though that eBay changed it's fee structure recently (really they just jacked up prices on store listings). This increase in revenue, though, is BAD NEWS. They aren't growing like a successful company (by adding customers). They're siply extracting more revenue from their existing ones. Long term it's a death knell. The purple cow has left the building.

Agreed. Being a computer seller (1500 rating in ebay) the last few years, ebay and paypal took around 10% of the my revenue (10% of $10,000 yearly). Repeating, my revenue. Not profit. Very expensive for a web service which does not even share the fraud risks. And yes, I have been frauded few times, ebay/paypal was no help then.
I had enuf of em, i dont use ebay anymore. amazon might be worth a try.
