Cupertino (CA) – Symantec has released its AntiBot software to help computer users stop and delete unwanted Trojan Horse programs.  AntiBot uses behaviorial-based algorithms to clean the “millions upon millions” of bot-infected computers, according to Rowan Trollop, senior vice president of Symantec’s Consumer Products Divison.

Trollop adds that the vast majority of users have “no idea” of what is going on inside their computers.  Bots are remotely-controlled programs that are secretly implanted into computers and give hackers the ability to launch attacks or send financial information.  Back in March, Symantec released a report stating that there are more than six million bot-infected computers in the wild.

Since AntiBot specifically targets bots, computers users will still need the usual gaggle of anti-virus and anti-spyware application to protect against all computer security threats.

Symantec’s AntiBot is available for $30 and includes one year of software updates.
