Santa Monica (CA) – Microsoft continues to expand the family room appeal of its Xbox 360 console and announced that it will begin offering Disney’s movie portfolio in standard and high definition through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Disney joins the existing movie and HD movie and TV show library, which according to Microsoft senior vice president Jeff Bell has grown to more than 500 hours of high-definition content since November of last year. Apparently, Disney will provide its entire library consisting of animation, action and comedy titles – including current movies such as The Queen and Primeval.

The new movies will be available for download beginning today in the U.S. and will make its way to Canada and Europe this summer, Bell said.

Pricing of the movies has not been announced.
