Funny that Civ "Revolution" won't be released for the Wii which was originally named the Nintendo Revolution.

Every real-time strategy and turn-based strategy game made for the consoles has been terrible. It has nothing to do with the technology, the games just require a keyboard and mouse.

That stinks, no Wii version. Krackers!

2K Games has already stated that the game will only be available for PS3, PSP, and XBox. Neither the Wii, nor Nintendo DS have enough processing power to handle the new Civilization release...

The one system that has a user input that is conducive to RTS (the wiimote doesn't make a bad mouse, would just be missing a keyboard for shortcuts but still miles better then a gamepad) is the system they exclude.

The DS seems like it may be the most conducive with the double screens and stylus, but overal screen size may hinder it.

Why wouldn't you put a turn based strategy game on a low-powered console or a mobile gaming platform? It's one of the easiest games to port IMO.

Ps3 has support for usb keyboards and mice, yes the kind you plug into your standard pc.

I have both on my ps3 atm works great.

The only reason they need processing power to play Civilization, is because they went along with what the marketing dept told them was the trends, and implemented a useless, buggy and way too heavy 3D engine, starting with Civilization IV.

Civilization IV requires too much processing power and is way unstable because of the added complexity, while the 3D engine adds NOTHING to neither usability or graphics/feel.

Instead of making it into the 3D world, they've could've done the same features on a 2D platform, namely zooming in/out and rotated the North-South axis. But 3D is where the action is, so they decided to bloat the game exponentially, and in the process logarithmically multiply the hardware requirements, and make it record unstable. Civ 4 will crash after hours. And this is a board game that is supposed to be open for stretches of weeks!

If the Civilization creators hadn't made that horrid felony against it's own products, there would be no problem to host Civ Revolution on any hardware platform.

I mostly disagree with post of "Civ I-IV Player". I too played all four civs (spent enormous amounts of time really), and I can say that I truly loved 3D view of Civilization 4. Graphics feel was wonderful and refreshed the game line which was becoming really depresing with little improving graphics. And hardware requirements aren't high compared to other todays games. About stability, didn't experienced any crashes except slowdowns after longer plays - so I needed to restart, and that's no problem for me.
BUT - where's the PC release of Revolution?? Will be that console only??

For 2K to exclude both the most popular platform and mobile console from their upcoming release is idiotic. Apparently they have no interest in selling games. Not only does the Wii Remote and DS's point and click system most emulate the series's PC feel, but it seems that Nintendo owners have been more willing to take risks on non-traditional games (see Raving Rabbids, WarioWare), a needed element for 2K to sell users on what up to this point has been a failed console genre. It took the Wii to bring me back to consoles from the PC, and my only hope is that the new Civ IV expansion pack is enough to tide me over if Civ Rev doesn't make it to PC.

I used to have problems running civ 4 on larger maps. I finally upgraded to 2gb of ram and have no problems at all. I've played all the games in the series, too, and I think that civ4 is great.

Most marketting seems to suggest the Wii appeals to a younger demographic and the PSIII and Xbox are both designed around similar hardware simplifying development.
