Cupertino (CA) – iPhone buyers will have to register for an iTunes account in order to be able to use the phone.

Another detail about the upcoming iPhone emerged yesterday. In an email sent to consumers who have signed up for the iPhone newsletter, Apple noted that iPhone buyers will “need an account with Apple's iTunes Store.” To save time later, the company suggests interested customers to “set up [an account] now.”

Apple did not return calls to clarify this statement.

Apple said it will be launching the iPhone on June 29, with AT&T serving as the only wireless carrier for the phone initially.
