Hollywood (CA) - The hackers over at the Doom 9 forums have once again conquered AACS by discovering the updated decryption key used on new HD DVD and Blu Ray discs.  According to forum posters, the key has been verified to work on new movies like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.

Interestingly the key was originally posted by a “BtCB” on a website that offers random 128-bit integers for “ownership”.  The Freedom to Tinker website was set up in protest of copy protection methods and conveniently uses DMCA to fight against DMCA.  Visitors to the page get a number that is a decryption key to a haiku.  The authors of the site say this effectively deeds the number to the visitor.

BtCB said in his post on May 23rd 2007, “Here’s mine: 45 5F E1 04 22 CA 29 C4 93 3F 95 05 2B 79 2A B2.  What are the odds that this is the new processing key?”

Users on the Doom 9 forums took the key and began decrypting newer movies that were shipped with updated keys after hackers discovered the older key of 09 F9.  Apparently it took hackers less than four weeks to break the new key.
