Chicago (IL) – Just in time for the release of the iPhone in June, Sony is preparing the launch of its latest 3G Walkman phone, the W660i.

The phone surfaced today in the FCC list of approved products, indicating an introduction of the device in the near future. The phone will be available in two colors, “record black” and “rose red”, include three iPod-like “multidirectional” navigation dials and improve its music playback capability.

While the integrated memory remains very small (16 MB), music and other data such as images are likely can be stored on supported Memory Stick Micro (M2) flash memory devices. What makes the W660i interesting is the fact that it comes standard with a wireless Bluetooth headset that can be used for music listening. The iPhone will not offer this capability out of the box and buyers will have to move to third wireless stereo headset party-devices, which rarely sell for less than $100.

The Sony phone will also include a 2-megapixel camera, video-recording support, a 176x220 pixel display, a USB interface, as well as software package that includes the Netfront web browser. The W660i will s support GSM 900/1900/1900 and UMTS 2100 networks.

Pricing has not been announced.
