Other than Windows has more updates then MAC, as far as security issues go, MAC has them too.

I've never had an issue with Windows crashing other than being related to an nVidia driver!

No Operating System is perfect. I don't why ppl think Macs are so unhackable. Nothing is invulnerable not even linux.(go ahead come tell me I'm wrong linux fanboys)Please explain to me how Macs are better than a Vista or XP computer. Price is definitely not one of them. Heh this is only supposed to be about Macs getting an update on security patches, but look what it turned into, Mac Fanboys complaining how these updates are lies. Please go to the apple website check the downloads and see that this is a fact. Gosh u Mac Fanboys are so thick.

Mac in the past has been very secure because of protections other than well written code (though I do think theat it is written better than vista). Macs (in the past) have been more propriatary about hardware and software, which makes them more secure. Macs are much more expensive, which makes their users 'play nice' with their computers (when you only spent $300 on your PC you are more willing to try things that will break it compared to $1000 for your mac). But macs are now opening up to wider and wider ranges of hardware and are becoming ever more like PCs (though for the moment they are still expensive). I suspect that as they gain more market share (more than the 6% or so that they have now) then hackers and the like will say "hey! maybe it will finally be worth my time to look into programming Mac specific virii".

In short, Mac is more open, is beginning to become more popular, and is beginning to attract a less intelligent user base, all of which will begin to plague them with many problems that have (up until now) been PC-Windows only problems.
But even still I think Mac is still better than PCs, and will continue to be even with security issues because they are a smaller company that can move quicker at fixing problems as they come up.

Last I checked a PC was anything that was a "100% IBM Compatible" basically meaning you can run windows natively. Macs now use Intel hardware and can run windows natively!!! They should just say MAC OS vs Windows, not MAC vs PC because MAC is a PC now!

I hate all the short sighted people who think Mac are unhackable. As the popularity of Mac increases, and it will, so will the potential security concerns. This is not to say that this makes Mac's any worse or PC's any better. It is human nature to try to access the unaccessible. And until someone comes up with a definitive way to intelligently block malicious incoming connections, security will make up a large percentage of IT work in the future.

This is really a shame because instead of programmers think up new and improved ways of interacting and using our computers. They are constantly trying to patch all the small holes in the ever leaking dam of security.

Winfans and Macfans both give it up. Go with the MOST stable OS on the planet, Solaris 10. It would be no surprise to see the server holding this message to be running Solaris. 32 bit versions, 64 bit versions, SPARC versions. Multiprocessor support. Best of all, there's no activation, no 'phone home' features, no huge virus problem, automatic updates, and it's FREE.

I'm sure Solaris 10 is nice but it's geared towards professionals not gamers or average users so who wants to try breaking into it and what is the reward? So I'll stick to Linux and WinXP.

Any OS is hackable. Any vehicule can break down. I think the rest is self-explanatory.
