If you work at NASA and need help from tech support, you shouldn't be working there in the first place...

If you buy from HP corporate, they're very good. So is Dell and IBM, etc. You see these companies make *all* their profit on corporate customers and lose or break even on the consumer side. Who would you rather keep happy?

I speak with an HP engineer or tech support specialist when I call, and one that speaks native English no less. None of those drones who read from scripts to the unwashed masses :)

When I was heading up a data shop in the Marines, I didn't know why everybody would fuss about dell tech support. I'd call, "put me on with a supervisor please. *2 min wait* yeah, the hard drive needs to be replaced, please send me a new one. thanks, have a fantastic day!" If it was something I wasn't allowed to touch because of warrantee reasons, they'd have a tech there the next day.

Among the larger and better known firms that NASA also selected IBM, Best Buy, CDW and Hewlett-Packard. This is only a license to hunt for business and is not garunteed revenue.

The commercial line of HP's support network is very different from the retail. The products are different as well. A service contract with them makes all the difference in your service with HP.

If only custom builders had even a tiny fraction of the R&D budget of the major corps...then their servers might be worth buying.
