Chicago (IL) - The PS3 version of the multi-platform title Stranglehold will come with something extra on it - a full-length feature film in high definition.

The newly announced special edition of the game will use the PS3's Blu-ray Disc (BD) playback capabilities to add a BD version of the movie Hard Boiled, reports High Def Digest.

The DVD version of Hard Boiled has been out of print for several years.  A standalone version of the PS3 Straglehold game will still be available for around $60, with the special edition tacking on an additional $10.

Most PS3 games so far have used less than half of the standard BD capacity.  A two hour movie also does not fill up an entire disc.

This same idea appeared very briefly in Sony's proprietary PSP format, UMD (Universal Media Disc).  A couple movie studios partnered with game developers to offer playable demos on select movie titles.

Stranglehold, which is also slated for a PC and Xbox 360 release, is scheduled for release some time in August.
