San Diego (CA) - Sony today announced 30 new games headed to the PS3 platform.  Among the new titles include new additions to the Socom and Ratchet & Clank series.

Warhawk, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Socom: Confrontation, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Folklore are all headliners in the list of new titles.

Additionally, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, NBA 08, and Lair are all added to the upcoming games list.  Other titles are mainly movie-based games and new additions to annual series like NBA 08 and MLB 08.

PS3 games from the online Playstation Store were also announced today.  Calling All Cars, High Velocity Bowling, and High Stakes on the Vegas Strip are all heading to the PS3's digital download platform.

According to Sony, more than half of the titles announced are Sony exclusives, with some also heading to the PSP and/or PS2.

Hopefully these titles will help sell the console a little better than it has been selling recently! Man i just hope that a lot of these games are native 1080i/p as 720p titles really suck @ 480p for those of us unlucky enough to own 480p/1080i only televisions? anyone else on this?

...for high velocity bowling... there's only 3 games i want on my ps3. I shouldn't need to say what they are. And Tom I have a 480p/1080i TV too.. I absolutely hate the stupid PS3 for not having an onboard upscaler "true high definition blah blah" yeah right! Can't believe I paid $1000AUD at midnight to play resistance in 480p on my bloody HDTV!

I wonder if to do this, it could be done purely as software or if they would need to upgrade hardware. If its possible to add this feature via a software update, I'd recommend that you both start getting ppl to e-mail Sony or make a petition.

Upscaler: This should have been addressed already! This is why you don't buy into the Sony hype when they want define what High Definition gaming is! They don't care about what TVs people actually have, and this whole 720p issue really shows this. 30 Titles: Aside from there not being much new here, there's also no guarantee that every title will go gold. We go through this every generation, at least half of the promised titles never make it out the door.

Kaz Hirai making amends?

After the CEO change over at Sony is this Kaz Hirai life saving strategy? Can this help PS3 that were hampered due to a lack of exciting and interesting titles. I guess only time will tell but for now it looks like Sony's made the move in the right direction. Remember software sells hardware; always.
