Redmond (WA) - Microsoft's first-party game studio today announced that the Xbox 360's Forza Motorsport 2 is ready to be mass produced and sent out to stores.

Forza was once hyped as the Halo of racing games for the Xbox, and it became one of the top-selling titles on the old platform.  Microsoft says the new addition will add new online features and HD resolution, with over 300 cars and 12 tracks.

The game comes out during Microsoft's latest  revitalization campaign for the Xbox 360.  To better compete with the PS3, an "Elite" version of the console with a 120 GB hard drive and HDMI output went on sale last month.  The 360 also has failed to outsell the Wii since Nintendo's big debut in November.

A new demo of Forza 2 has been added to Xbox Live, and the final game is slated for a street date of May 29.  The retail price is around $60.
