45 games due to hit in 3 months? That's an awful lot of choices...are any of them good?

I could see 2-3 being great games, while another 2-4 being good, and 2-3 more pretty good ones, and the rest will be lacking in quality/fun factor.

easy, re-use old gc textures, re-use old game engines, old animations, and basically do nothing but add waggle controls to last gen games.

I got the wii and ps3, but had been bored with the wii already. The existing and future games are all
too much for little kids. Graphics just sucks
and more like a ps2 game with wii controller.
Seeing that ps3 has much better games coming and
with new eye toy, I can see that Ps3 will eventually catch up with wii in a year or so when there is enough good games out there. By then wii will be so outdated. All Sony has to do is to come up with a new controller that does what wii does...
then it can put the nail in the coffin. The only selling point for wii is the controller. nothing more.

First off, this is good for Nintendo. More games mean more exposure to consumers and wider market appeal. Second, to harrison for bashing Nintendo, I'm curious what your Sony employee ID number is. Seriously, any bashing on Nintendo is just sour grapes. They are enjoying huge success. Besides, they haven't released anything major in a while except for a few titles, so common sense would say they are LISTENING to the opinions of users that the games have better controls and better graphics. That's why 45 games are in development, because extra time was needed for quality. Do you really think Nintendo is working on 45 games JUST for the Wii? NO! Several of those are third party! Next time you have a thought harrison, just pull your head out of your ass. Your sphincter is cutting off circulation to your brain.

This is totally skewed. At the Press Release Iwata said that Nintendo is currently developing 45 games for the Wii. Some of them, probably close to half, may never make it out of prelim-development. Its all on IGN.

Stop whining that 5 or 6 titles will be hits out of 45. It isn't any different from the other consoles currently on the market.

I'm so tired of people bashing Nintendo on graphics, the games I have played on the system are much more fun than the beautiful, but boring games found on other systems. I'm an avid player of World of Warcraft; I do this why? It is fun for me to play. If I am want to see something beautiful, I will go and walk in a forest, not gaze glazed over at a T.V. playing a boring video game. First person shooters that dominate the video game seen are so 1990's, I cant believe they still make them. I hope that Nintendo does not start being swamped with them also!

the reason for Wii's early success is most likely due to its innovative playing style and the relatively cheap price compared to xbox and ps3. However, Wii has some major flaws, namely the game section. Wii console does not have many major hit titles as xbox or ps3 do. The move of Nintendo coming out of 45 games before summer is a good move but not enough. It needs GREAT games. Not just 45 games, but Great Games. Mario party 8 and pokemon thats coming out soon is relatively good, but these are for kids and younger teenagers. There needs to be a more sophisticated part for the adults that purchased Wii for the wii sports type game. If there are no titles that brushes up on the older market, I am sorry to say, nintendo might see the wii sale drop significantly while ps3 and xbox (serious gamers group) pick up sales.

if you even mention the n64 to anybody, the first game they mention will probably be goldeneye.

maybe you should spend a few hours leveling up your shooter skill and you might find the experience challenging and rewarding.

I hear lots of people saying how bad the wiimote's accuracy is. I disagree. It's not the accuracy which is the problem.

It's that there's too much IR "noise" in the room. I've played the same game in five different rooms. Only one didn't have any windows. All windowed rooms have blinds. One room has a window on either side of the TV stand (covered by blinds).

That room is HORRIBLE for the wiimote. IR interference out the wazoo. One other room had slight issues with the blinds open, but not closed. The other rooms, no problems at all.

I get 14 feet of range on my set up. I have a big double-wide window on the right of my RPTV and at a 45 degree angle to my view. No problems even with the blinds open as long as the sun isn't coming directly through.

So, try covering those windows with something else.

Strongly disagree, they are just un-innovatively dull. That's why "one (unreal) engine can rule them all".

Although PS3 and 360 are superior, remember people predicted MS Windows out of its crappiness should fold up years ago but still humming -- you just need to have a big (market) share and the developers will bend to your side. Anyone played NDS will know that there are lots of special gems which most of them will easily up-scale to Wii.

For the poor graphic, as the technology as out-dated as Wii use, I don't think that it is difficult to sell a new version (Wii-ii?) that is backward compatible. PS3 can do it, XBox can do it, why not Wii?

BTW, I am looking forward to "Nights into Dreams" to come out this Q2.

stromm just so you know the wiimote is bluetooth not IR so that IR "Noise" you are experiencing can probably be taken care of with some prozac. he he just kidding. They have an article in maximum pc on how to hook it to your pc as long as you have a bluetooth adapter.

It (the Wiimote) uses both, you actually have to setup an IR receiver bar above or below your TV (included with the Wii). the IR is used for the point and click style navigation and the Bluetooth is used for all of the button and motion data.

I am trying to get a wii, you guys have it, you all seem to hate it, sell them to Mii, I have LOTS of people who would love to get them off your hands and leave you with ready cash for PS3 re-hash graphics games.

Some of the comments disparaging wii's are very short sighted. The 'hardcore' gamers say the graphics are weak and the games suck blah blah blah. Here's what I see though: I see 18-28 year old girls who haven't played video games before playing Wario. I see grandmothers playing bowling. I see parents and kids playing games together.

So- a) it's not just for kids, just because the graphics aren't razor sharp and there's no blood doesn't mean adults aren't enjoying the games. b) The 12-28 year old segment that used to only be able to play after they moved out or their parents went to bed are being drawn out into the living room. c)Parents have a LOT more money than their hardcore-video-game-playing-trainwreck-of-a-emo-teenager kids. It's a lot easier to sell parents on a game if it doesn't have to be hidden from view. d)Socially participatory games are FUN regardless of graphics.

This isn't something that Sony can fix with a new controller. Finally, regardless of the ps3's tech prowess, really hardcore gamers goof around on consoles then play pc's.

What is this crap that PS3 and Xbox are the hardcore or serious gaming crowd? I've played every console over the years from pong to the NES, to the Gamegear, to the VirtualBoy, and so on.
The only systems I haven't played yet are the PS3 and the Xbox360. I have access to them, I just have no interest in them. All thier emphasis is on the looks of the games, and personally, I hate the PS controller. Haven't liked the feel of it since the original PS.
I've spent time over the years going hardcore with games that actually have a decent storyline. The graphics of the early NES and Sega games weren't the best looking, but they were FUN to play and older RPG'S have stories with great replay value. Breath of Fire, FF3, Chrono Trigger, and others come to mind to those of us who've played games for more than 4 years. Hence why Nintendo's virtual console is doing well, giving us older games that are dated graphics wise, but fun to play over again.
HARDCORE gamers are found on all platforms, not isolated to SONY's and Microsofts have assed attempt at gaming.

The IR bar is sending but not receiving. Actually there are suggestion the IR sending out is used for orientating the wiimote and does not encoded any signal at all.

Maybe for 3 big reasons:

1.- Like to discuss
2.- They have one and don't want to admit: "damn, bad choice".
3.- Correct or "make justice" from other comments.

Either way, you buy what you like (and afford, in some cases). And that's a fact.

grate another dog care game and the old releases of mario with ps2 grfx it is going to be grate to see mis pacman again

should have bought a ps2 (yes two) and an eye toy if they wanted truely "revolutionary game interaction" for a decent price.

I like nintendo for zelda and a few other games, but their wii is just hype that hoodwinked millions.

If you take apart the sensor bar for the Wii, you'll find just two IR emitters at either end. You can make your own, to make "PiiCii" games that use the Wii-mote.

You could bicker back and forth until you're blue in the face about whose console is better, or even why one sells better than the other. The cold, hard fact of the matter is that the people at Nintendo had one of the smartest break-through ideas in the gaming industry. With the introduction of the Wii they were able to open up previously unexplored avenues in demographics. From younger to older, seasoned and unseasoned, any and all find it fun, exciting, etc...

Other consoles will never compete because they don't appeal to the vast majority as the Wii does. It's not based on vid. quality, available titles, etc. It's how big is your market as opposed to your competitions market, simple business fact! Make a product that appeals to everyone and everyone will buy it!!!!!

i have a Wii and xbox 360. I like them both. I prefer the wii because you're doing more while playing. You may like ps3 or 360 better. Everyone is different . Stop trying to say my system is better than yours. You guys are losers and need to get outside more. Go make some friends (and i don't mean online friends).
