London (UK) Two UK airline pilots flying in separate aircraft reported seeing a large UFO hovering over the Channel Island of Alderny, in between mainland Britain and France, local newspaper This Is Guernsey has reported.

The object was described as being up to a mile wide, with the pilots having spotted it at around the same time, location and altitude 10 miles west of the island and 2,000 feet up. Captain Ray Bowyer of local airline Aurigny, described the UFO.

"It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area. It was 2,000ft up and stationary. I thought it was about 10 miles away, although I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I thought it was the size of a [Boeing] 737. But it must have been much bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a mile wide."

As he continued his approach into Guernsey he spotted a second object further to the west, “identical” to the first. "It was exactly the same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to Guernsey. I can't explain it. At first, I thought it might have been a reflection from a vinery in Guernsey, but that would have disappeared quickly. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes.

"As I got closer to it, it became clear to me that it was tangible. I was in two minds about going towards it to have a closer look but decided against it because of the size of it. I had to think of the safety of the passengers first. I'm certainly not saying that it was something of another world. All I'm saying is that I have never seen anything like it before in all my years of flying."

The captain described the sightings to Air Traffic Control, with the duty officer Paul Kelly later telling This Is Guernsey that he had had a similar report from a pilot with Blue Islands. "The description was very similar to Captain Bowyer's and they described it as being in exactly the same place. But they were looking at it from opposite sides." He continued to say that "both pilots placed it at the same altitude."

The objects did not appear on ATC radar, but had they been stationary then the radar would have filtered them out.

I am also a pilot and logged and reported a sighting in Glasgow two weeks ago, two groups of three orange lights about two thousand feet above Glasgow. They moved slowly in formation, the first group then moved off at very high speed to the north east and vanished. The second group then altered course and followed the exact movement of the first group. In all, visible for about 2 minutes. This was witnessed by my wife, I alerted Glasgow Air Traffic, but they had nothing on radar. This was 3 miles North East of Glasgow International airport, 9.15 on a Monday evening. I have never witnessed anything like this before.

Appearing over islands my first thought is these could be the result of air currents flowing over the raised terrain of the islands. As the air rises a cloud forms, and it disappears as the air falls "downstream." This happens over mountains a lot. But I'd think pilots, particularly airline pilots, would be familiar with this effect. Also, why would thye be yellow/green?

I posted the lenticular cloud comment out of what I feel is healthy skepticism. I would LOVE to hear/see/find proof of other intelligences or whatever other reason you might feel obviously explains these things. I think the universe is too large for us to be alone. However, it is so large I see a real possibility that, no matter how many 'others' there are, we might never contact them. Pilots are people too. I'm one, in fact. I've seen odd things in the air which, when examined, revealed their nature. (Ex: giant flying tennis shoe. I kid not. Hot air balloon used for advertisements) Lenticular clouds fit this description pretty well. They can look quite solid, they appear to stay in place. They are large, can be dome/disc shaped. I am happy that a pilot with passengers didn't investigate closer. But I wish someone else had. I read these articles in hopes that one day they will prove to be the real deal. But I refuse to get lost in the clouds.

This UFO may or may not have been other world in nature but how many of us doubt that our governments have information filed away beyond Top Secret security clearances about other world UFOs? It is past time that the world's citizens come together and demand the truth. We should be instating laws that will punish those officials in government who have knowledge of these events with life imprisonment if they don't release the information. We should demand that all the information our governments have on everything be made open and public. Our governments exist because of us, their citizens. What could they do if 1 million people marched on Area 51, Norad, or the Pentagon. Could they arrest or shoot all of us? They are our governments and its past time the people took back control of them. A democracy or democratic republic cannot make informed decisions if we are uninformed.

So here we go again. Multiple UFOs on daily basis, and of course the always popular conspiracy theories. It's seemingly human to long for a higher force, and UFOs seem to fit what some hope and wish for. Why they travel umpteen lightyears to get here, and then just fly by, is beyond me. I am impressed by the skepticism in most of these comments, and I'm smiling of the other ones. My vote goes to Lenticular clouds or some other natural phenomenon. But thanks for the story. Does anyone ask the obvious question? If there's an artifact a MILE LONG and only 2,000 feet up, it's going to TOTALLY DOMINATE the sky above the ground below it. If the people on the ground didn't see space ships, then UFO truly just simply means that the pilots observed some natural phenomenon that was unusual to them and so they couldn't identify it. Lenticular clouds can be appear yellowish from certain viewing angles and the proper angle of sunlight. The green I wouldn't know about, except we do know that certain colors can play tricks on the eyes and appear differently when the light is only from a small point or a small sliver (as seen by the observing eye) because of how the light affects the color receptors of the retina differently than normal.

It would be foolish to dismiss this sighting. The Pilot is credible and would not make up a story like this. Experienced Pilots know the difference between clouds and solid objects. He saw something very unusual for sure, but what that thing was will probably remain a mystery.

UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object. Years ago if you saw an object in the sky and it was not a plane or aircraft you recognised you had to report it for the safety of the country. Now you are labled a crack-pot if you say you saw something in the sky. Why? - to see something odd at report it isn't a crime nor does it make you crazy - just because you report something odd does not mean you believe in aliens, it just means you believe what you saw - thats all. A flying object which is not a recognisable plane or aircraft is not impossible in this day and age of technology - grow a brain for godsake.

I was a telemetry operatr at Honeysuckle creek Australia ( near Canberra ) and I was on site during Apollo 11. I remember clearly the astronoughts mentioning the sighting of the mysterious object pacing them. I was always told that it was the 4 th stage of the rocket, but that always seemed wrong! Now that I have seen the vid of Aldrin speaking of it,( aboveon the google site ) I feel vindicated in my beleif!
