I can't wait until Q3 of this year when the price of the Core 2 Quad Q6600 is suppose to drop to $266 according to DailyTech. I'm definitely grabbing one of those for my new comp build if that price is true.

AMD is still delivering better $/performance than intel's current price cuts. This is not enough to counter AMD's cheap offerings.

E4300 was 163 instead of the 133, the 133 was from Pentium 935

Let's look into this shall we? (i'm working in Aussie dollars here so that's why things look more expensive)
Intel E6600 price = $325 according to TG PCmarks = 6168 therefore performance per dollar = 6168/325 = 18.97
AMD 64 6000 Price = $339 TG's PCmarks = 6146 therfore performance per dollar = 6146/339 = 18.12

that's on the higher end of AMD's performance... I know u said low end so let's look at that:
Intel E6400 price = $255 TG's PCmarks = 5489 therefore performance per dollar = 5489/255 = 21.52
AMD 64 5000 price = $235 TG's PCmarks = 5352 therefore performance per dollar = 5352/235 = 22.77

unfortunately the E6400 is as low as TG has provided a test of in their CPU charts (any chance we can get the lower core 2's in there guys?) as I can get the E6320(E6300 with 4MB L2 cache instead of 2MB) for $229. which would have been a fairer test if the benchmarks were published. in the realm of pure speculation, the lowest Core2 processor (E4300) can be got for $165. when compared to the AMD 4400 (around $169). I found that the Intel comes out well on top with a perf/$ of 27.31 (assuming the Core2 can perform as well or better than a P4 605) which is more than the AMD offering of 26.69.

ok, you may or may not get better performance per dollar but you are totally forgetting that AMD has no or little headway for overclocking right now (being on 90nm) where Conroes (expecially the lower clocked ones) can have HUGE overclocking capacity

How long before these prices get propagated to retail outlets?

I've seen E6600 at 227 (I think new egg had the lowest price when shipping was included).

The thing that's baffling me is I have been monitoring CPU's (E6300, E6400 & E6600) for purchase. And people are bidding up to 250 to 285 for used E6600's. What are some Ebayer's smoking.

Bidding is the new drug or there are scammers out there running the bids up to hopeful levels. Why would you pay more for a used processor than a new one?? EVER???

even OC'd, it runs cool, no voltage increase needed.

One thing is very evident about AMD, they offer lots of promises and day dreaming and nothing to back them up! SHOW ME THE MONEY, AMD!
