MS is a well known copier and seldom innovator. And whatever they can not copy, they buy (for example: Bungie).

But isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattering? Okay, so in the case of Windoze, it is an uttery failure since its inception. Even Vista is nowhere near the capability of the OSX. But the xbox/xbox 360 is pretty awesome. So not everything it touches will turn into gold. Which is good, as it leaves doors open to competition to survive.

Well, Apple did invent the commercial personal computer... In this case IBM was the copycat.

It's a marketing concept, not a new invention. Any mainframe could have been considered a "personal computer". Putting it in a smaller box and marketing it to individuals did not change what it was. Also, even if you were to call it an "invention" it wouldn't be steve wozniak. Certainly he made some of the first computers targeted at individual home use, but he wasn't the first person to come up with the idea or the first person to make something that could be purchased by an individual and installed in a home environment.

Name one thing that google has innovated. Microsoft created XML to name one amongst the many things Microsoft has innovated.

Google has copied or bought everything it has - search engine, email, phone, maps, social networking, IM client, online publishing (online word, excel etc..), google compute (remember SETI?), froogle, google checkout, etc etc...

just to let you know, the original OS Mac users claim MS stole from them was actually created by xerox, and mac stole it from them.
It is also one of the least flexible hardware solutions out there, in terms of hardware choice inside the box - which is one of the reasons why its seen as more stable than a pc (less hardware choice = greater hardware standardisation = less hardware compatibility (stability) problems). me, i prefer more choice at the expense of the occasional problem....

Ya, they gave up on their own code, grabbed the communities and now they have a decent OS for the first time. Pre OS-X it was just as bad or worse than Windows. Currently its probably a better OS, but I haven't had any problems with XP in a while, so I'm not seeing any great difference.

What ever happend to the PowerPC architecture, you know, the one that wouldn't exist if Windows wasn't around.

And I wonder which pushed the advancement of GPUs more, PC or Mac...

Personally, I don't care if Apple copies or not. I liked my Apple IIc, I liked my NextStep, and I love my OS X. I don't even mind the Latitude and Windows 2000 I have to use at work, since I have a 24-7 IT department at my fingertips.

Yea, so anyways, after all the rambles above. Im not so sure Google are entering the right end of the market. Not intentionally bringing up the rotten apple again, but if google want to win another market, go in the direction of the iphone, or Nokia N95, not something with basic phone functions, and 3G.

Its also amusing to read the assumptions that Mac users make. How can you assume how tiny someones views are, or even how old they are? To me that is a perfect definition of MAC. Arrogant, the whole lot of you.

I am a Mac fan. It was my first and my next computer. I'm not offended by any of these comments, only by the inane, uninformed babble.

Who pushed USB and IEEE 1394? Who started using Ethernet first? Postscript? Who changed computers from beige (or black) boxes?

Business wants the largest customer base. Sell lots of a cheap product. In order to do that they find the lowest common denominator. That's why there is so much 'reality' TV. It cheap, and you can't get much lower than, "Are you smarter than a ten-year-old?" or even "Seinfeld". Why do you think "Seinfeld" and "Friends" left the air? Try $1 million per character per episode ($4-6 million per episode, just for the main actors. This doesn't include guests or the crew or the rest of the support staff). Contrast that with a $1 million prize, and a few million dollars for flights, food, crews, HUGE savings.

USb was created by MS, IBM and toshiba. IEEE 1394 was Apple and is dead. Steve jobs opened his iphone presentation with a quote saying that if you want a great product you need to build your own Hardware. What a joke. Didn't they switch to intel chips. They have the stupidest commericals and lie like the dickens. MS got the webcam to work Apple did not.
