Actually as of this writing, HD DVD is lagging behind Blu-ray in total titles available in the market. HD DVD is presently at around 176±, whereas BD is at 203±. Both formats have 50± titles with confirmed street dates through July, which takes us well into Summer, leaving your quote of "300" well shy of the mark.

They both conveniently choose statistics that make themselves look better.

The sooner one format wins this battle the better it will be for the consumer. Then we can start buying equipment and software.

Blu-ray seems like a better format to me because of the single layer capacity. ie you can fit a whole movie on each layer. Doesn't neccesarily mean it will win though. Hey, I liked Beta.

Other than capacity I don't see any difference in the two formats. I think they use the similar CODECs. I believe both support uncompressed audio. And who cares about all the java stuff. I just want to watch HD movies & concerts.

Oh-oh, another Sony fanboy rears his ugly head. I've noticed no news article with even a slight lean against a Sony offering can avoid rabid fanboy response. News Flash: Sony care only about money and market share, as do all global mega-corporations.

They will shoot themself in the foot as they did with Betamax.

They had the better product, over the VCR, but they kept prices high, and didn't get movie outlets behind them.

Now they got the movie outlets behind them, but they have soo much Copy Protection and are backing the movie outlets so much, they are alienating a lot of people.

Granted HD DVD also has the movie outlets best interests with Copy Protection, but they haven't gone as far as Sony has.

Also lets not forget anything with the Sony name also has a premium added to the price. At one time you could say that premium was for a better product, now it is just a premium to own something with the Sony name on it.

Doesn't matter, the group that will win will be the group that gets the Porn industry behind them, which honestly shows just how stupid our world is.

Doesn't matter which one has the truly better technology, just matters which one people can get their porn on.

First of all, none of these game sales sites are reliable, but nextgenwars.com is by far the worst one of them all. the only thing you can go by are the NPD sales figures.

Blu-ray also has more available titles, they recently overtook HDDVD in that category. Maybe you guys are just a little sore for picking HDDVD to win the format war so early, with no real reason why. Since when has TGDAILY become biased towards a format, shame on you.

MY TAKE: Buy both, a combo player, or neither.

P.S. my Xbox 360 w/HDDVD drive & (recently acquired) PS3 are perfectly adequate for all my HD needs.

Especially if they are from Sony. They are EXTREMELY clever with their wording saying things like 1mill ps3 have shipped (thats only to warehouses such as gamestop. we've had the same 12 in our store for OVER 3 months now, no joke). Blu-Ray is technically superior, I wont debate that. However, the greed is what kills Blu-Ray and its exactly what killed Betamax.

Currently the DVD forum gets about $.13 per disc made(thats per copy of 1 title). Blu-Ray charges $3.00 per copy. Hd-dvd still uses the same technology as DVD (for manfucaturing surposes because the film(not the laser like most people think) that holds the data is "tighter"). Nothing has to be upgraded on the processing plants where they make current DVD's. However if you want a studio to produce Blu-Ray it costs about 10million(if i remember correctly) PER MACHINE to change from old technology to new. Where do you think the studios get that 10million per machine(x1000 of machines world wide) and the $3.00 charge per copy of each disc? CONSUMERS. If you purchase blu-ray you are begging corporate america(which is what GW and republicans are all about these days) to think for you. IF you arent capable of making up your mind without false stastics and seeing the big picture, pick blu-ray, but if you can see the impact it has WORLD WIDE(including inflation) then pick the smart choice, HD-DVD. There's more to it then being a blind fanboy that knows nothing of either technologies other then "the one i have is better, because i have it"

Don't get political because the Democratic party has more "corporate america" support than the Republican now. I hate both parties btw.
