Redmond (WA) - Microsoft this week launched a new plug-in for Firefox that allows its proprietary media player to run on embedded web page scripts on the Mozilla browser.

The plug-in will be available as a download when Firefox users log on to a site that integrates a Windows Media Player (WMP) ActiveX script.

Firefox, once an enthusiast-only browser disregarded by Microsoft, has been gaining ground on Internet Explorer. At the #2 spot, Firefox currently holds about 14% of Internet browser market share.
