Foster City (CA) - Sony's latest firmware update for the PSP, which brings the system version to 3.30, includes six free months of T-Mobile wireless HotSpot access.

T-Mobile powers WiFi Internet at more than 7000 locations across the country, including most Starbucks and Borders.  The connections usually offer T1-like speeds at around 1.5 Mbps, but the mobile service provider charges a monthly subscription, or a $9.99 daily fee.

PSP owners who log onto a T-Mobile HotSpot by March 28, 2008 will get a free six month subscription.  According to Sony, after the six months users will be eligible for a discounted monthly rate.

In addition, the 3.30 update adds support for more Playstation Network titles and finally includes the ability to play Memory Stick videos at full 720x480 resolution.
