Motorola has announced a pair of faster DragonBall processors for handheld devices, clocking in at 20MHz and 33MHz.

The current 16MHz DragonBall EZ powers Palm Computing's existing line of palmtop computers.

The new chips not only offer higher clock speed, but add improved support for color displays. The increased speed also should help Palm handhelds add multimedia features, such as the ability to play MP3 audio.

The 33MHz DragonBall VZ will offer on-chip support for SDRAM, and 256-color LCD displays. It will ship in January. The 20MHz EZ chip is available now.

The story is posted at www.zdnn.com.
