Asus showcases controller-free experience for the PC
Asus and PrimeSense have teamed up to create a controller-free experience for Windows-based PCs that will be showcased this week at CES 2011 in Las Vegas.
The WAVI Xtion media center features an ultra-wide band wireless link and a PrimeSense 3D sensing platform that allows users to browse multimedia content, access the Internet, peruse social networks and enjoy "full body" interaction.
Asus will also introduce a PC-exclusive 3D sensing professional development platform to help devs easily create their own gesture-based apps and software.
Dubbed Xtion Pro, the platform is expected to be available in February, which will coincide with the upcoming launch of the Xtion online store.
It should be noted that the Israel-based PrimeSense previously licensed core technology to Microsoft that was deployed in Redmond’s wildly popular Kinect platform.
