Chicago (IL) - A report originating on Nikkei business daily reported on Saturday that Pioneer will soon exit the flat-screen TV business. As part of a sweeping corporate overhaul, the company will quit manufacturing its own flat panels by the end of March, and will begin using Panasonic's panels instead.
In addition, over the next 13 months, Pioneer plans to get rid of "several thousand jobs" from its 40,000 workforce, according to the report.
