Denver (CA) - Toshiba today announced its fall lineup of LCD TVs at the CEDIA tradeshow. Especially interesting are the Regza RV535 and XV545 series, both of which come standard with a “near HD” upscaling technology announced earlier this year for standard video signals.

According to Toshiba, its Super Resolution Technology (SRT) will deliver a “new level of picture quality” that will make “SD content feel like full HD”. SRT, which has been available in some of the company’s notebooks for some time, upconverts 480i and 720p (standard TV, video games, DVD) signals to 1080p, and enhances image sharpness, brightness as well as color output resulting in a “near HD” experience, if we believe the company.  

The technology will be available as a standard feature in Regza RV535 and XV545 models, which will be priced from $1400 for the 42” RV535 to the $2800 52” XV545. Both series are available in screen sizes of 42”, 46” and 52”.

The XV545 also marks the return of the Regza Cinema series with support for AutoView and ClearFrame. Toshiba’s new flagship TVs are designed with a “double skin” - an outer skin that is translucent, allowing you to see through to a second interior skin with texture behind it. The TVs runs video in 120 Hz and come with four HDMI inputs (HDMI-CEC), as well as a technology to reduce game controller delay in video games.
