There is no doubt that sustainability and environmental awareness are becoming more and more common these days and we are seeing more and even more consumer electronics companies are creating products that are designed to aid individuals in their quest for a greener lifestyle. But it is difficult for many of us to figure out what products are truly green and what products are just keeping up with the trend.
With no standards in green technology, one has nothing to base “green” on, what you can do however is observe specific qualities in an item and choose a device that is energy efficient and better for the environment throughout all of its life stages from production, to the end of its lifespan when it is time to discard the product.
If you are looking for a new TV and if it has to be a 40”+ LCD TV, then we believe JVC’s Procision series may be such a product.
The TV is slim enough to be mounted flush to a wall much like a picture frame. The device’s thin cabinet design measures 1.5” deep across most of its width, and about 3” at the center of the television panel. Regardless how you look at this television it is extremely sleek and slim. The televisions bezel is also thin, allowing for a picturesque look and the ability to disguise your television as just another wall hanging. Not only is a slim, sleek and small design perfect for the home of most individuals, but it is also good for the environment in the television’s last leg of life. A slim, sleek design allows for less waste disposal, meaning less trash is accumulated in our landfills. However, it has yet to be confirmed whether or not the materials that the television is composed of are environmentally friendly.
JVC said that the thin design is enabled by a slim panel backlight unit and power supply chassis. The new backlight is actually 40% smaller than that of a standard LCD television. The backlight weighs a mere 26 pounds and uses only 145 watt of power, which is significantly lower than the backlights of traditional LCD television that can easily exceed 200 watts. The backlight has been optimized with light-diffusing plates and additionally light-reflection sheets: The light is diffused evenly at the corners and edges of the television screen without utilizing additional CCFL tubes. The television is still capable of maintaining adequate lighting so that your screen will always be bright.
Not only is the television ridiculously thin, it is also lightweight making it extremely easy to mount, with minimal worry about its weight on the wall. The JVC Super Slim LCD television weighs only 33 pounds, making it simple for almost any individual to move and mount it. JVC also offers a wall mount designed specifically for this television allowing it to be installed closer to the wall than your traditional wall mount.
