Dell Windows 8 tablet specs get detailed

Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 OS will be targeted at mobile devices as well as traditional PCs. As such, a number of industry heavyweights are prepping a wide variety of tablets in various form factors, including Dell.

A preliminary slide recently obtained by Neowin offers a basic spec list for the Dell Windows 8 tablet, which apparently boasts a 10.1-inch HD resolution capacitive multitouch screen, along with an optional stylus.

The tablet is powered by an Intel Clover Trail dual core Atom processor and (Intel) integrated graphics.

Screen resolution is 1366 x 768, meaning it will support 720p HD at best.

Interestingly enough, the new tablet appears to take security quite seriously, which indicates the device will likely be targeted at the lucrative enterprise market.

Indeed, the Dell Windows 8 tablet is equipped with TPM, a lock slot, optional integrated fingerprint reader, and an optional smartcard reader.

The device also boasts 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 128 GB SSD, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile broadband options, as well as a swappable 2 cell or cell battery offering 30-60 WHr per charge. The tablet includes a 30 W power adapter, along with an optional docking station.

Although Dell has yet to officially confirm a launch date, Dell’s Windows 8 tablet is expected to hit physical and virtual store shelves in November 2012.
