Analyst Opinion - I’m traveling this week and noted that the guy traveling next to me, who owns his own company, is using an Acer netbook. It is his primary travel computer. He purchased a 12-cell aftermarket battery for it and gets 10 to 12 hours of battery life and, according to him, this is all he needs. Most of the analysts I travel with have noted that the distinction between netbooks and notebooks has largely vanished.
CDW, a computer retailer that targets the business, government and education markets, has begun offering 3G netbooks that are subsidized by AT&T. If you agree to a 2-year service plan, you can get an Acer or HP netbook for $199.
It had better be good at this price, but HP's new Mini 5101 netbook, launched today, ticks the right boxes.
Gateway has introduced a high-definition netbook with an 11.6-inch display. The LT3100 - which weighs just 3.14 pounds - features an AMD Athlon 64 L110 processor, a full-size keyboard, multi-gesture touchpad and a ATI Radeon X1270 GPU.
