Today’s iPhone rumor comes from Intel’s 40th birthday bash in Germany,
which was held yesterday night. The German ZDnet guys reported that
Intel Germany boss Hannes Schwaderer confirmed that the Apple’s iPhone
will be available with Intel’s Atom chip. There is a lot of interest in
Apple’s new iPhone these days, so it is no surprise that the news
spread like wildfire. Intel soon denied the report as false, but the
author stands by his story. In the end, Intel’s claims do not
“entirely” contradict what we have heard before from the company – that
Intel is aiming for the iPhone in the future.
Oh where have all the iPhones gone? Apple is having trouble
stocking its wildly popular iPhone in retail stores and its completely
unavailable on the United States and UK online Apple Store. Apple says
there is no word on when it will get new inventory and this isn’t
necessarily a bad thing since everyone anticipates the 3G version of
the phone to be announced next month.
Another week, another 3G iPhone speculation – and you are at the right
place to get the latest on Apple rumors that are leading up to the
World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June. Apple has been
confirming sudden iPhone shortages in the U.S. and UK over weekend,
which leads some to believe that we might see a premature 3G iPhone
launch in May and a surprising product announcement (after all, there
has to be at least one surprise, right?) in June.
The general consensus among analysts has been that the upcoming 3G
iPhone will go on sale in June, but so far there has been no hard
evidence or strong leads to support these voices - until today. Two
separate reports provide the dates for U.S. and European 3G iPhone
shipping dates. Unlike before, today we did not receive just
speculation – but the content of an internal AT&T memo sent to
retail staff.
A new Apple rumor is making the rounds on the Internet: The company
could be working on the rebirth of the Newton handheld, possibly in the
shape of an ultra mobile PC. Why? Handwriting recognition capabilities
for the simple Chinese character set have been discovered within the
iPhone 2.0 SDK firmware files. Handwriting recognition may be a
generally nice feature for the iPhone, but the idea of a new Newton is
certainly worth talking about.
The latest Net Applications survey and data extracted from Flickr logs
indicate that Safari’s Windows version tripled the browser's market
share, Microsoft is eating into Mac’s market share and the iPhone
surpasses Nokia’s N95 in photo uploads to Flickr. The published numbers
have limited scope but they allow us to draw some interesting
conclusions.
