Top 5 makers aim to ship 46 million LCD TVs in 2007

  • The top-five LCD TV vendors, Samsung Electronics, Sharp, Sony, Philips and LG Electronics (LGE), aim to ship a total of 46 million LCD TVs in 2007, with AU Optronics (AUO), Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) likely to supply half of the panels those vendors will need, according to sources in Taiwan's panel sector.

    According to shipment forecasts that the sources obtained from the vendors, Samsung, Sharp and Sony each aims to ship 10 million LCD TVs next year, while Philips and LGE expect their LCD TV shipments to reach nine million and seven million units, respectively.
