TSMC sues SMIC for alleged breach of 2005 settlement

  • Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced filing a lawsuit against Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) in a California court, alleging that the company is in breach of a 2005 settlement with TSMC and that SMIC continues to misappropriate TSMC's trade secrets. The plaintives include TSMC, TSMC North America and WaferTech while the defendants include SMIC, SMIC (Shanghai), SMIC (Beijing) and SMIC Americas.
