Taipei (Taiwan) - Citing lower-than-expected shipments of Intel's 4-series chipsets have caught Asustek and Gigabyte off guard, according to DigiTimes. The current oversupply is causing unsold inventory to depreciate in value, affecting the chipmakers.


Asustek is reporting it may have taken its largest hit and still carries nearly 7 million units worth $180.57
million. Gigabyte is holding on to slightly fewer unsold chipsets, around $150 million.

This has resulted in a hope Intel would delay its Havendale, Lynnfield and 5-series chipsets to allow the makers to clear their inventories.
