Following a column on TG Daily questioning Apple’s “Twice as fast. Half the price.” ads for the iPhone 3G Apple is now sending out emails with an asterisk. The line now reads: “Twice as fast. Half the price.*”

The footnote states that the claim refers to “Comparisons between iPhone 3G (8GB) and first-generation iPhone (8GB) running on EDGE. Actual speeds vary by site conditions.” and “Requires new two-year AT&T rate plan, sold separately to qualified customers.”

We have no complaints anymore about this statement. However, the additional explanation of is still missing on Apple’s web site.

AT&T has been advertising the iPhone 3G only with the additional information and states that “Half the Price.” refers to “Qualified customers only.” and requires a two year contract.
