During the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) at Beijing, Intel announced it will partner with six leading IT companies in Taiwan, including Asustek Computer, BenQ, Compal Electronics, High Tech Computer (HTC), Quanta Computer and Elektrobit – a Finnish automated system provider for the wireless industry – to establish an alliance between notebook and handset specialists to develop the business potential of mobile Internet devices (MID). Intel will work with this Mobile Internet Device Innovation Alliance (MIDIA) to develop solutions that offer customers a US$500 device that can access the Internet anywhere.
