Silicon Valley rep endorses Nancy Pelosi
Silicon Valley Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) is voicing her support for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as House Minority Leader.
Pelosi - who presided over the House as it received a "shellacking" at the ballot box - is slated to be replaced as Speaker when the 112th Congress convenes in January 2011.
"Nancy Pelosi enjoys the utmost regard of all the Valley’s leaders across the high-technology, biotechnology, telecommunications, scientific and venture capital sectors," Eshoo said in an official statement obtained by The Hill.
"It was her leadership that not only produced the Innovation Agenda, but implemented it in its entirety in Congress, producing historic investments in science, technology, engineering and math education, broadband adoption, and research and development funding."
Nevertheless, Pelosi’s nomination is expected to face stiff opposition from a number of angry Dems such as Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), who insists he won’t support the former Speaker "for House Democratic Leader or any other leadership position."
Pelosi formerly held the position of House Minority leader from from 2003 to 2007 - during both the 108th and 109th Congresses.
